Each year, during the holiday season we provide the opportunity for our students to help raise money for a worthwhile charity. Students prepare a solo or an ensemble work, and then seek sponsors for their performances. This optional program of voluntary participation is where students gain valuable lessons in giving, and also enjoy an opportunity to perform for an audience.

The 2022 Music Marathon will benefit Helping Hands, an interfaith organization that is dedicated to bringing necessary services to the homeless of Rockland County, as well as helping them to fulfill their potential.

2022 details and registration are now open. If you have any questions please email Carole Tilson, Music Marathon Chairperson,

WHEN: January 23rd - February 23rd

BENEFICIARY: Helping Hands Interfaith Coalition of Rockland

HOW IT WORKS: participants submit a performance video through the RCMTG website. Submissions begin January 21st continue through February 21st.  Performances will be posted as they are received beginning January 23rd along with an accompanying link to our GoFundMe for Helping Hands of Rockland.

WHO: All students of RCMTG members, performing as soloists and/or as members of ensembles (i.e., chorus and instrumental groups from school). Teachers can submit performances of themselves as well.

WHERE: All performances will be posted on our Youtube, Facebook and Instagram sites.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are no time limits for the performances. Beginners through professionals are welcome. Longer submissions will be posted fully on YouTube; excerpts will be posted on other social media.

WHAT TO DO NEXT: Share this information with your students and encourage them to participate by helping with the musical selection process. Usually a parent or sibling will make the video, and it is preferable that the camera show the full person playing or singing (not just a shot of their hands, etc.) Explain the submission process: go to and click on Music Marathon (remind students under 18 that a permission slip will popup). Videos need to be in either Dropbox or google drive.

Encourage your students and parents to share their videos and the GoFundMe link on their own social media.

Videos will be accepted starting 1/21- 2/21
