Each year, during the holiday season we provide the opportunity for our students to help raise money for a worthwhile charity. Students prepare a solo or an ensemble work, and then seek sponsors for their performances. This optional program of voluntary participation is where students gain valuable lessons in giving, and also enjoy an opportunity to perform for an audience.

The 2020 Music Marathon will benefit Helping Hands, an interfaith organization that is dedicated to bringing necessary services to the homeless of Rockland County, as well as helping them to fulfill their potential.

2020 details and registration are now open. If you have any questions please email Carole Tilson, Music Marathon Chairperson,

WHEN: December 1st –December 7th 2020

Deadline for submission is November 29th 2020.

BENEFICIARY: Helping Hands Interfaith Coalition of Rockland

HOW IT WORKS: Participants make a video of their performance and submit through the RCMTG website by November 29th. Performances will be posted during the first week of December with a link to a Go Fund Me page for Helping Hands of Rockland.

WHERE: All performances will be posted on our YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram sites.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are no time limits for the performances. Beginners to advanced to professional are welcome. Longer submissions will be posted fully on YouTube with excerpts posted on other social media.

WHAT TO DO NEXT TO PARTICIPATE: Teachers, please pass this information on to your students. Encourage your students to participate by helping them choose a piece or plan their submission (who can assist them in making the video). It is preferable that the camera show the full person performing, not just a camera shot of their hands. Videos will need to be submitted here using a link to Dropbox or a google drive by Nov. 29th.

Encourage your students and parents to share their videos with friends and family (be sure to include the link to the Go Fund Me page) on their own social media.

All videos must be submitted by Nov. 29th.
