MUSIC MARATHON

Each year, during the holiday season we provide the opportunity for our students to help raise money for a worthwhile charity. Students prepare a solo or an ensemble work, and then seek sponsors for their performances. This optional program of voluntary participation is where students gain valuable lessons in giving, and also enjoy an opportunity to perform for an audience.

The 2022 Music Marathon will benefit The Florida Disaster Fund. We are hopeful that our Virtual Music Marathon will assist the victims of Hurricane Ian in a time of unique need, while raising the profile of RCMTG teachers and students, and the good work our organization can do.

2022 details and registration are now open. If you have any questions please email Carole Tilson, Music Marathon Chairperson, ctil8993@gmail.com

RCMTG VIRTUAL MUSIC MARATHON 2022 INFORMATION

WHEN: from December 3rd to December 10th

BENEFICIARY: The Florida Disaster Fund

HOW IT WORKS: participants submit a performance video through the RCMTG website. Submissions will be accepted starting December 2nd and not past Dec. 9th. Performances will be posted as they are received beginning December 3rd -10th along with an accompanying link to The Florida Disaster Fund

WHERE: All performances will be posted on our Youtube, Facebook and Instagram sites.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are no time limits for the performances. Beginners through professionals are welcome. Longer submissions will be posted fully on YouTube; excerpts will be posted on other social media.

WHAT TO DO NEXT: Share this information with your students and encourage them to participate by helping with the musical selection process. Usually a parent or sibling will make the video, and it is preferable that the camera shows the full person playing or singing (not just a shot of their hands, etc.) Explain the submission process: go to www.rcmtg.org and click on Music Marathon (remind students under 18 that a permission slip will popup). Videos need to be in either Dropbox or google drive.

Encourage your students and parents to share their videos and the donation link on their own social media.

Videos will be accepted starting 12/4-12/10
